Spring has finally sprung and car show season is in full swing! April is full of events all over the south! It shouldn’t be too hard to find something close to you to attend!

North Carolina Events

The month kicks off in Charlotte with the twice a year trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Auto Fair. CLICK HERE for more info.

Georgia Events

The NMRA & NMCA thunder into Atlanta Dragway in the middle of the month for the 7th Annual All Star Nationals. Not only does this feature drag racing but a two day car show as well. CLICK HERE for more info.

Hello and welcome to our inaugural e-news letter for TheCarShowJournal.com. First off, if you wish to be removed from this email list, simply reply to this email and put STOP in the subject line. TheCarShowJournal.com is a website I launched late last fall to give people a place to find out about car shows in the south. Our main focus as of now is North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. But we also share national events and many events from Florida, Tennessee and surrounding areas.

Our monthly news letter will highlight some of the major events in the area for the upcoming month and provide links to all of that months events on our site. If you have an event and want to get it on our site, please contact us and we will be glad to post your event. We also offer several packages you can buy to help further promote your event. We also offer advertising packages for your business as well.

Lastly before we get started with the events, we’d like to ask you to share our website with your friends, neighbors, and fellow car lovers! Help us help the site grow into something big and a great tool for everyone to use!

The 13th Annual Shriners Drag Racing & Hot Rod Expo is in Greensboro the 20th and 21st.

Also for you drag racing fans, don’t forget about Lights Out 6 in Adel, Georgia at South Georgia Motorsports Park, its one of the biggest, if not THE biggest drag radial race in the country!

The Birmingham, AL O’Reilly Auto Parts World of Wheels is held annually, during the second weekend of February, at the beautiful Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. The show utilizes over 220,000 square feet of exhibition space to put on one of the best and most beautiful custom auto shows in the country.

Foose Select Car Show Group:
$100 entry (part # BBFSG). The Foose Select Group is limited to the first 100 vehicle entries at a cost of $100 per vehicle. A photo is taken with the entrant’s vehicle and Chip. Vehicles should be ready for judging prior to entering photo area. The Foose Select Group will have a special parking area. Chip will be choosing one vehicle as the Chip Foose Select Award Winner. The winner will have their vehicle sketched by Chip Foose and an invitation to attend dinner plus one with Chip and Kevin King Sunday night, September 21, 2014. Purchase your spot now by phone at 1-800-932-7663 or at the YEARONE parts counter until Friday, September 12. On the day of the show we will be selling the tickets at the gate until they run out (max 100).

$25 Entry (available day of show). The Best of Show winner is decided by participant vote. The Best of Show winner receives an invitation to attend a dinner with Chip Foose and Kevin King (President of YEARONE) on Sunday night September 21, 2014. Chip Foose Autograph Procedure:
Obtain a numbered Chip Foose autograph card from the DJ booth. Groups of numbers will be called periodically throughout the allotted autograph session time. Please listen closely to the PA announcements for number groups to be called.
Only enter the autograph line after the group that contains the number on your card has been called. Chip will sign as many cards as possible within the allotted time, but possession of a card does not guarantee an autograph. *Autograph session time is still to be determined.
Only this card and an event T-shirt can be autographed. No other items will be autographed – please do not bring other items into the line.
Sketches may be requested. Please note that sketches will only be done on the event T-shirt and require a $100 donation to the HRCC at time of the sketch (cash or check only).
Only cardholders will be allowed in the autograph line, and only one card per person please.

10-1 to 10-5: Fall Carlisle: Carlisle, PA

Fall Carlisle – a collector and classic car swap meet, car corral and auction – is the next to last event of the calendar year for Carlisle Events and marks the end of the Carlisle based show and swap meet season. The event plays host to thousands of collector and classic automotive enthusiasts, who travel to the 150-acre Carlisle PA Fairgrounds from all points of the globe to buy, sell and celebrate all things automotive. This is a fun-filled weekend the entire family will enjoy. While exploring the grounds and 8,100 vending spaces, you will marvel at one of the largest automotive swap meets in the world. Carlisle is the place to purchase any of the 2,000 vehicles at the car corral where you can slip behind the wheel and get a feel for the vehicle. Even better, you can deal directly with the car owner to work out the best price. This is where you can buy, sell and trade with total confidence. 8-1 to 8-3: Carlisle Truck Nationals: Carlisle, PA

The Carlisle Truck Nationals and its show within the show, the Big Rig Show and Shine, are one of the largest and most action-packed truck events in the world. The weekend is a must-attend event and has been the epicenter for all things truck since 1991. Come to Carlisle for a great array of lowered mini trucks, lifted 4x4s, chromed out big rigs, SUV’s, custom vans and the perfectly restored classics. The weekend celebrates trucks of all kinds. Annually, more than 2,000 trucks are part of the judged showfield but more than judged excellence, there is something for the entire family to enjoy. Kids ages 12 and under are admitted free, allowing them and their families to enjoy monster truck shows. Better yet, attendees can climb in for a monster truck ride around the grounds. The family fun continues with the Kids at Carlisle Activity Center, shopping, parts buying at the Manufacturers Midway and much more. In addition to the family fun there will be various competitions with prizes awarded and celebrity guests. The pulse-pounding fun continues with special contests, including burnouts and beauty. The weekend features more than you can imagine.

Judging for the event takes place on Saturday only between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This program is exclusive to participants who register for the judged competition. All who registered to be judged must be parked in their designated class and have their truck prepared for judging by 10:00 a.m. Saturday.

7-17 to 7-19: Carlisle Performance & Style: Carlisle, PA

9-18 to 9-21: Charlotte Auto Fair: Concord, NC

The Hornets Nest Region, AACA, will again produce our world famous and much celebrated Charlotte AutoFair Event, which will provide more than 6,500 collector car Flea Market Vendor spaces to buy and sell restoration parts and supplies for almost any vehicle ever produced — also included are more than 1,000 Car Corral vehicle spaces for buying and selling collector vehicles of all descriptions!  HNR plans for more than 100,000 Eager Collector Vehicle Buyers and Restorers to attend Charlotte AutoFair!  The Hornets Nest Region, AACA, has produced Charlotte AutoFair for more than thirty-five years to thrill auto enthusiasts from all over the world!

Parking is easier from Morehead Road – enter from that side of the speedway and you are immediately into the world of collector cars!

      Shop freely between the Green Field outside the track and the Orange Field and Blue Field inside.  Use the Underpass Gate 26 to shop between outside and inside.  Have your hand stamped if needed to leave Charlotte AutoFair and come back the same day.

      Please note:  As with any large collector vehicle flea market, the Hornets Nest Region cannot require vendors to attend or require vendors to remain thru-out the event – please plan accordingly, especially if you are attending for the first time!  Friday and Saturday are always the busiest days of Charlotte AutoFair!

9-11 to 9-13: Fall Rod Run: Pigeon Forge, TN

Fall Rod Run – at LeConte Center of Pigeon Forge. This Pigeon Forge Fall Rod Run is one of the most popular car shows in Pigeon Forge simply because of the cooler weather, lack of summertime visitors, and the slight chance of seeing some fall colors start to show! 9-6 & 9-7: Shades Of The Past: Pigeon Forge, TN

Shades Of The Past Car Show, Hod Rod Round up, HUGE Exhibitor Area, Rods, Customs and Classics through 1972, Giant Swap Meet, Prize #1 32 Ford Hi Boy Roadster “Alloways”, Prize #2 $10,000, Reg. $60 which includes two adult admission both days & eligible to win the 32 Ford Hi Boy Roadster.

10-25 & 10-26: 47th Annual Moonshine Festival: Dawsonville, GA

47th Annual Moonshine Festival-Annual Festival and Car Show. All proceeds support KARE for Kids, Inc. a non-profit organization. This event includes arts, crafts, food, music and activities for the entire family. Sunday: 8:00AM – 5:00AM, Saturday: 8:00AM – 7:00AM. We hope you can join us this year for the 5th Annual Moonshine Run. Participants will gather at the City Municipal Complex to check in from 9:00 am until 9:45 am on Friday, October 25, 2013. The tour will depart Dawsonville at 10:00 am. We will be travelling on a different set of roads in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains this year (more details to come) and making some stops, Come enjoy our rolling car show, meet up with old friends, meet new ones, have lunch with us, relax and get the weekend started off on the right foot.
